Poor Design

This dress was originally described as a fit and flare which has been changed to “slim flare” but on the one I got, the skirt was not only not flared, it was inconsistently sized with the top half. The usual hip measurement area only measured 40 inches onn my XL, which is a medium on the Wool& size chart. The bust and waist were correct XL measurements. The hips being too small made the pockets stick out strangely and gap. I had high hopes for this dress given that I have a wide variety of Wool& dresses and have never had this kind of fit issue before. The Aegean Teal color is breathtaking….maybe my favorite Wool& color so far.

Hey Lisa, we're sorry to hear this dress wasn't a win for you! We've noted your feedback and are glad you love the Aegean teal color. Please don't hesitate to reach out if we can assist with sizing advice or setting up a return/exchange.

Completely different dress than shown

I was so excited for a layering fit and flare style dress I ordered it in every color. It was fitted and flattering to my figure, but the bottom wasn't what I imagined in the flaring department. The pockets ruined the silhouette for me, because otherwise the dress showed my figure and underwear lines exceedingly well, which I could work around. Only the black effectively hid packaging wrinkles and lines, but I have little cause to be dressing like a sexy funeral director, so I'm initiating returns for all 3.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear this dress wasn't what you were expecting! We've passed along your feedback to our team. Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can assist with an exchange or return.

Difficult to size, but potential

Based on early reports, I knew my pre-order was the wrong size before it got to me. I forgot to snap a photo and already have it packed back up, but it barely got on my body. My measurements are approx. 42-39-48, so I clearly ordered too small based on the sizing charts -- I have been finding that if I don't like a dress, I often like it better in a smaller size, so I ignored the sizing guide (and there was not as much guidance during the pre-order).

If I were to re-order, I would likely try two sizes up, an XXL. I would be more likely to order if they rolled out plus-size sizing for the dress, because I think that might work better with my proportions.

Although I understand the structural reasons for doing so, I don't like the way the waist seam looks. I also do not have a very defined waist, so this emphasizes it without doing anything to help it. I think my body type would benefit from either more structure (like the Kalle, which hugs my tum-tum but still looks great) or a fuller skirt. It does show potential for a flattering fit in the right size, especially if I remove the pockets (I always wear Summit pocket shorts or leggings underneath, so I don't need pockets in the dress). However, I am returning instead of exchanging because my Wool& wardrobe has expanded at a wonderful and alarming rate since my first purchase 5 months ago, and the $15 pre-order incentive isn't enough to keep a dress that isn't perfect for me when I have 6 dresses I already love. It would be nice to have another long-sleeve dress for layering under Brooklyns, but I don't think I'm there with Charlotte.

The burgundy color is beautiful, and is the only red that really works on me. It fills a gap in my wardrobe, and I thought it would be nice to have a red dress for holidays. However, I like Aegean Teal more, even though I already have Teal Cora and Pacific Brooklyn. It would be a tough choice which to buy.

Not for me

I was sooo excited for this dress and preordered it as soon as it went up on the site. I have another dress in a similar shape (not Wool&), and with my larger tummy/apple shape I thought this would be great. It was very staticky out of the package, so it’s clinging in the video more than it probably would later on, but it’s definitely not a fit for me. Too fitted, and as you can see all of my legging/under wear/bra lines are showing. I could size up, but when compared to Ellie and Willow I just love those two so much more so I think I’ll stick with them.

I would recommend sizing up in this dress! I wear XL in all of my Wool& clothes (and I have about 9 different items, dresses/tops/pants) but I would need a larger size in Charlotte.

Thanks for your review! We're sorry to hear the Charlotte wasn't a perfect match. Let us know if we can assist with finding the correct size.

Missed Opportunity

They sort of changed the description, but they need to move this dress out of the fit and flare section, and add the garment measurements for waist and hip. All the pear shaped people like me did the pre-order based off the sketch and bust measurements and were disappointed. The top is true to size. The skirt fits more like a pencil skirt with a slight flare at the bottom. And ultralight weight fabric with a fitted skirt is just a bad idea for most. If you are a tall triangle or rectangle, this may be the a-line skirt that will work for you. The Aegean teal color is fabulous. For me, it would need alterations in either size because the top will be too big if I size up, and the pockets absolutely have to be removed either way.
This dress in 300 gsm interlock with a true flare a-line like Ellie, 2-3" more in the hips, would have been perfect.
