I LOVE this dress! I can dress it up or dress it down wear a cardigan or not - very versatile for wearing it 100 days in a row!
I am currently completing the 100 day challenge with the long Rowena Swing Dress. I really wanted to have an Avery tank dress to wear when my challenge is done in July. I received the teal color today and it is beautiful. My bra straps do not show. The belt works great and is very flattering. I can reverse the dress and wear it either way comfortably. I would highly recommend this dress for the future. I am looking at minimizing my wardrobe and this is perfect.
This dress fits me quite well. It's maybe a tiny bit big for me so there is a small gap in the arm holes. I like my clothes to fit 'loose' however so I didn't exchange it - and I can cinch the waist with the self belt. I think if buying again I might try a large, but again the xl is fine. Maybe the L would be too small! I hope that helps.
Not itchy at all and cool and comfortable in hot weather. I'm in a cold climate so I have been wearing it with sweaters a lot (I bought it knowing I would need to wear it until June so I figured, pair w/ sweaters and tights at first then wear as a tank dress!) I have also worn it as a tunic over capri wide / loose pants and layered a longsleeve tee under it, adding a scarf ... it actually looks like an 'outfit' not like I am wearing a tank dress over other clothes. In this way I have worn it in below freezing temps and 80 degrees. Yes, some of this is for the 100 day dress challenge but it's proven the dress' versatility.
The color: normally I love a BRIGHT teal but I am finding this heathered teal is almost a neutral of sorts, going well with other heathered colors and muted tones: a soft olive, grays, browns/taupes, soft/heathered yellow, black (of course) and also I have done some black and white colorblocking. It goes great with some deep marine items I have as well as deep purple.
Hi, thanks for your thoughtful review! Great to hear how you've styled the dress, and your take on color. That's really helpful! Appreciate it.
I love the ease of this dress. It doesn't feel "wooly", but has a nice, light, non-itchy texture. I've been wearing it since receiving it as part of the 100 Day Dress Challenge, and have only needed to wash it once after spilling a bowl of chocolate ice cream in my lap.
I've worn this dress
both ways, but prefer it with the V neck and the belt removed. The tag didn't rip out easily; I was a little concerned that I might rip a hole so I just wound up cutting it, but I can still feel the remnants of the tag against my neck when I wear the dress backwards. Perhaps place the tag on the inside bottom seam? My only real "complaint" is that on my 5'2" frame, it is a little too long. A petite version of this dress would make my life complete. The steel blue color is beautiful.
The waistline of this dress is high - but if you are handy with a sewing machine, you can remove the waistline and belt. I added a couple of darts in the right places and it fits well now. The fabric is beautiful and easy to work with.
