This is such a lovely & flattering dress. The color (seafoam) is very pretty & as-pictured. My only complaint is that the v-neck is quite low, as other reviewers pointed out. Luckily, I love how it looks reversed with the high boatneck.
I can’t wait to wear this all spring & summer long.
I originally purchased the 2xl size but it was much too large in the shoulders and bust (I’m an L or XL up top but a size or 2 larger in the belly/hip area so fit is often tricky). If you run between sizes I’d suggest going to the smaller option unless you have very large breasts.
I love the weight and quality of the fabric used - this piece feels lightweight yet substantial and the manufacturing quality is very good. Looking forward to wearing this dress often.
This is a really flattering dress and the material is clearly high quality. The only mild complaint is how the v-neck option opens up. I generally don't care about low necklines but this one can completely open up if you lean forward. You need to wear some sort of extra coverage with it or sew in a snap. It's definitely worth the extra effort though.
I love wool clothing, and I'm really trying to consume less and purchase higher quality pieces for my wardrobe that are versatile and last basically forever. This dress was a big investment piece for me, and I chose it specifically because it seems like the only option that would work as a nursing mom.
However, the fit is way, way off. I'm broad shouldered and have a large chest, but this dress just swallows me up on top. Seriously, there is so much material above the waistline that I could probably bring it in by 10" and still have plenty of room. It's almost twice as wide as I am on top. And the skirt is almost too tight. It somehow hugs my mom belly and clings to my love handles, rather than hanging with a loose swing like I would prefer. It absolutely wouldn't work as a maternity dress/tunic, which was one of the uses I was hoping to get.
I could easily size down, probably even to a small, but I feel it would still be unflattering to my figure. Looking at the way the seams lie on the shoulders, I think I may be able to get it taken in quite a bit, which it definitely needs. Kind of a pain that I'll need to spend even more money to make this dress work, and I still won't love it.
I would only recommend buying this dress if you are much, much larger on top and smaller on bottom, or if you know going in that you'll need to get it tailored to fit. Hopefully the next version will be cut to a more flattering shape.
I love the fit, length, and overall style. It looks great on almost all body types and it's a great three-season weight. Unfortunately the waist is a problem. The elastic is 1/2" so it's just wide enough to roll every time I bend, including when I sit down at a desk. This means that skirt fabric gets tucked up under the roll so I'm constantly tugging things back into place. It's not a flattering look to see someone tugging at a knee-length skirt all the time and it gets to be downright uncomfortable after pulling fabric across sensitive skin for hours. I have an hourglass shape but I expect this would be a problem for almost body types if the wearer has to do a lot of bending for some reason.
Hi Laura, thanks for your review on the Brooklyn! We're sorry to hear that you've had issues with the waist. This is something that our Design & Development team will take into consideration with future designs.
