I was a little concerned about this dress due to other reviews that indicated it wasn't good for curvy women, but I love it! It looks great and the fabric is very nice. You can tell it's well-made. The arms are not too tight, which is a problem for me sometimes. I'm a little on the short side and prefer my dresses a little shorter, so I'll be removing an inch or two from the bottom, but it would be perfectly fine as-is. The pockets are nice and deep, so I won't have to worry about stuff falling out. My only wish is that the sleeves had more buttons so I could roll them higher if I wanted. Overall, a great dress; my boyfriend loves it; and I'm excited to put it to the test on my travels.
This dress fits me so incredibly well everywhere but the arms. They are a little tight for me and I don't know if getting back into climbing in the next few months is going to help, with my forearms gaining muscle.
The quality of the fabric is unique to any merino I have seen, this is my first time owning woven merino and it feels more resilient than any of the knitted merino I own. I have also only worn the dress out one time so far (thanks covid) and have already recieved a compliment from another lady :) The teal color pops maybe just a tiny bit less in real life but it is still totally gorgeous.
Looking forward to wearing this dress for 100 days when we get a little closer to fall.
Hi Hazel. Thanks for your review, happy to hear that you're loving your Clara! We hope the dress is the perfect 100 day dress for you.
This was a bit of a splurge and I am feeling like the quality and versatility are very worth it. The dress shipped quickly and has turned out to be a welcome quarantine work from home item as it is semi-professional for the video calls while also being comfortable. I spent a lot of time reading the reviews, looking at the sizes and how people described the fit. I know that I need a waist for my figure so the Clara Shirt Dress was the only style on my list. I went with black for now to really use this dress as a staple but could see myself getting one of the beautiful colors next time.
I actually like this dress more than I expected to, though it is very much a cool weather dress. Its rather warm. My only complaint is that its a little tighter in the shoulders than I would like, but I think it might be too big if I went up to a large. That being said, I love the color. It looks professional, and is a perfect length on me, and I can easily see playing with it for a range of styles
I love this dress! I love all the pockets. I love the versatility of wearing a belt or not worrying about it. I love the neckline.
I am near the beginning of week three on the 100 day challenge and I have only washed it twice and both times it only had the barest hit of odor. I do hang it inside out on a hanger overnight and lightly spray the underarm area with an alcohol-based lightly scented body spray. I only wear deodorant (no antiperspirant) and have an desk job so I don’t get too sweaty - except for from nerves sometimes. (Hope that isn’t TMI!)
I have had to iron it each time after I laundered it and then it’s good to go for the week. I love the fabric being 100% wool with no synthetics. It is not scratchy at all.
I chose black to be the most versatile with the accessories I have. It needed lint brushing most days in the beginning but that seems to have decreased after washing the second time.
My only complaint is that I find it to be about 2 or 3 inches too short. It’s still enough cool where I live wear leggings so it is no sweat (pun intended) right now. I have worn it without them but find it a bother when not home to need to be so careful when seated. After we return to the office, I will likely continue to wear legging for modesty sake to finish out the 100 days and then put the dress away until fall. :(
My dream dress would be a 2-3 inch longer, short sleeve version - the same otherwise. I would pick a lighter color, maybe lavender or slate blue. I could wear in the summer without having to layer but could layer and wear it year round!
