I ordered the extra small and it fits well - although a tad low in the front so I need to pin the top if I don't wear something under it. I have the Rowena Swing dress as well which I also love. This dress is a little more formal than the Rowena Swing dress so it is a great option for work and going out (well, when the pandemic is over). It is very comfortable. Great in the winter and cooler months because of its length. It is also very durable but not bulky.
Super dupe flattering! Actually far too flattering for my ultra conservative workplace. If you have C cup or above, consider this a social dress only IF your workplace is conservative like mine. That said, I love it and am doing 100 day challenge.
This Wool& style is particularly good for dressier occasions. The waistline is a bit more fitted and classic. It also is a bit longer than some other styles. I am enjoying this dress!
I am really enjoying the Ellie, love the color, material and versatility. I chose it for my 100 day challenge because I couldn’t find a rowena in my size. It does not hold odors at all! I have only had to wash it once (on wool cycle in my machine) and it came out beautifully. Highly recommend and I am looking forward to having more options when the shop is restocked!
Working on building a capsule wardrobe for work. After receiving this dress in black - I don’t want to take it off!!! I’m so excited to wear it again and again. The fabric is soft, breathable, drapes beautifully, and is wrinkle resistant. I was worried the neckline would be too revealing for work. But it’s perfect.
I love wrap dresses in general; I know that the silhouette "works" for my body shape. Ellie is the only wrap dress I have ever found with functional pockets and it's a game changer.
There are two tiny things I'd change about his dress if I had a magic wand. The neckline is just a bit too low for my comfort - but that it easily addressed with a stitch or camisole. And in my particular dress there is a flaw in the fabric right in the middle, ribcage high. The flaw is now visible but I can feel it and am constantly aware of it.
Hem and sleeve length are perfect. I may buy this dress in teal as well.
The design and shape of this dress is really flattering to a feminine shape. Being a busty girl I love the wrap v and it has plenty of coverage. I only wish that it was three to five inches longer. I am tall and my height is mostly in my legs. I also prefer to keep my knees covered. This barely covers things. The quality of the fabric and workmanship is excellent.
A great dress, lightweight and fun to wear. The only problem is that I have always had the perfect figure for this kind of dress, but if you intend to lose any weight, there will be problems as it begins to gap at the top. This could easily be solved if it was a genuine wrap. Also, overtime it begins to stretch and even if you haven't been losing much weight, you will still see it sagging in the bust line and revealing your bra. At that point, the only option is a safety pin.
I was originally turned off by the boxy and baggy look of some of the gowns on the models on the website. Thankfully I returned to the site and looked further at more gowns and at pictures of people who had done the challenge. That persuaded me that there was much more to these gowns than the way they look on the website models! They are beautiful when worn and accessorized differently.
I ended up buying the Elle midi in Black and in Teal. I am working my way through the 100 day challenge (8 days done) and have zero doubt I’ll finish so long as illness or some other emergency doesn’t intervene. This review is based on the black gown. I’m saving the teal until after my 100 day challenge.
Easy to spot clean
Does not have odor problems (I rarely have problems with this anyway).
Super comfortable— as comfy as my most comfy pajamas or nightgown. As comfy as leggings and a baggy t-shirt. Much more comfortable than any blue jeans or other pair of pants or other dresses.
Looks fine with a tank top instead of a bra (at least for me) for casual use and at-home
Fabric weight is great — light but warm in winter. Can’t speak to summer yet!
Not itchy! I like soft wool anyway but was worried about a wool dress. No need to be concerned!
The black attracts dog and cat hair. It does come off easily with a lint roller but that means using one every time I leave the house.
Could use some tweaks to fit a bit better up top for those of us who are A cups. I’d prefer not having to wear a tank year round to avoid people seeing everything. I cannot wear this without one or everything would be on display.
Laundering ease and durability: so far I’ve only spot cleaned it for doggy paw prints. Those came off easily. I haven’t yet laundered it and hope it dries quickly!
Would I buy again?
Yes. I plan on buying a spare NOW while they are available since there seem to be supply issues with literally every other style. Then when my 100 day challenge is done I’ll put the $100 toward another style dress.
My goal is to ultimately to have three in black: two of this style and one other, plus dresses in teal (already have it), forest green, wine red or burgundy, royal blue and brown. This would fit my full array of color choices and accessories and give me just enough variety to fit my mood changes. I may not toss everything else I own but will store a lot away on my basement clothing storage racks where I normally keep out-of-season clothes. It would be nice to not bring them up and down all the time! I don’t plan on living in these all day every day. Other clothes are more practical while gardening and doing house/lawn work if only because of the cost if I damage them. And I do have some other clothes I love. But I expect these will become my main clothes about 75% of the time. Balance...
The dress arrived today and I am so happy that it is long enough! It hits just below my knee which is how I prefer my dresses. I liked wearing the Fiona (for 107 days straight) but always felt it was four inches too short and I am so, so glad that the Ellie is four inches longer. I had the Fiona in a size large and felt it was a tad big so I got a medium in the Ellie and there is no extra room but I think it will be just fine. The neckline is a bit low for school teaching but fine for regular life. I'll wear something under it or stitch something in for school. The color is nice. The fabric, of course, is nice. I just double knot the tie and it hangs nicely and unobtrusively. It is a much dressier looking dress than the Fiona. I am quite pleased with it.
