I own 11 Wool& dresses, so Im normally a fan, but this dress fell flat. Its too long for a tunic but too short for a dress and oddly tight in the arms and shoulders. The material is thin, not cozy. Its just dumpy and unflattering. I could probably dress this up to make it look better, but for me its not worth it when wool& has so many other dressses that are cute on their own.
I ordered this dress not quite knowing what to expect. In fact, I nearly sent it back, because on first wear, it wasn't as forgiving as the swing dresses, and it didn't float over my body like it does on the models. The size felt right in the shoulders, though, and people on the Facebook wool& group gave me encouraging feedback -- including that it looked like a night shirt, which was one possible use I'd had in mind for it. I packed up the dress to send back, though, as it felt too tight for a night shirt. But then last Friday night, I thought I wanted to lounge in a comfy wool dress, and I took it back out of the packaging and spent an evening on the couch with it. The dress was still out the next morning, so I put it on again, this time with jeans and a thin strip of lace my daughter had made into a basic belt. It worked perfectly for running errands yesterday, and today, it was the best layer to go under a gray vest -- somehow the grays working together for a nice, casual vibe. So, if you order this dress and aren't sure what to think at first, give it a second chance! You may find yourself pleasantly surprised. A note about fit: I take an M in the swing dresses, but on the size chart, I am probably more of an L. I am sticking with the M in this dress, FYI.
I wasn't sure if I would love this on me, but I do love it! I like that I can layer it with leggings and a vest and boots, but it's comfy enough to lounge at home.
The pockets are a similar style to the Sierra style pockets with a stitched outline but the fabric is jersey knit, slightly heavier than the Rowena fabric. The button placket is functional - I can unbutton the top two buttons for more of a split neck look. I also like that the shoulders have more of a henley style so there isn’t a defined shoulder seam. I am not a nursing mom but if I was, this would be a great dress for that purpose.
This is my normal size, large. I wear large in all wool& items except for a couple (I sized up to XL in the Sloan tee, Foundation ponte pants, and Tulip dress.)
The mauve color is gorgeous!
Just received my dress & love this Mauve color! Its complimentary to my fair complexion; certain colors can be tough & wash out, but this is good! The dress is very comfortable and looks nice with a couple snaps undone or fully snapped up. I have an hourglass type figure and can be in between a M and a L dress size. I chose an L thinking the more straight fit may lay nicer around my hips, which it does, however it is a little loose around my waist. Not a bad thing, just a heads up! So cozy paired with my Axis Leggings.
This looks like a dress I could live in at least three seasons of the year! Gray is one of my capsule colors, and this looks like a cozy dream come true for my very casual lifestyle.
