Usually I go for the super versatile and comfy swing style dresses but I wanted something a little more form fitting for special occasions, vacation, and days when I wanted something a little tighter fitting for my clothes. This is it! I also appreciate that I can style it a few more ways than just a dress - useful for when I travel and need versatile garments in my small travel bag.
I am between large and extra large so I sized up to XL and am happy with the fit. In case it’s helpful, I am usually a large in all the swing dress styles, as well as Fiona, Clara and Brooklyn.
I love this dress! I knew I would the minute I saw that it was available for purchase. The fabric is a bit thinner than the other dresses and the slim fit hugs every curve I have. I had originally ordered a small but returned it for a medium which fits better across the thighs (my biggest area). The armholes are a little larger because of the larger size but the dress still works for me. You can wear flats and a light cardigan and be ready to go! It's a gorgeous color.
I received Tulip 10 days ago and started my 100 day challenge right away. Tulip is so flattering and easy to wear and can be dressed up or down. The fabric is lightweight but not see-through or flimsy. Beautiful quality, can recommend wholeheartedly!!! 🌷
I actually love this dress. It's very different from the other Wool& dresses I've had, and it fits well. Even though it is a thinner material, I feel like it is substantial and made well. I tried both the XS and S, but kept the XS. Either one would have worked but the XS didn't have the armpit gape that the S did, and it just hugs my curves a little better. This dress definitely shows off everything that you have, for better or worse, but it's really fun to wear.
I actually purchased this dress in XS and my daughter got a SM for me. I have a faux wrap dress from wool& in XS which fits nicely but the SM tulip is slightly narrower then the fitted bodice and waist of the XS wrap dress. I am attaching mid section picture wearing the SM tulip. I will be trying to replace with a Medium tulip to see if that drapes better. Fabric as noted is very sheer, helped by double layer in front but needs this lining in back also. At 5’5” 120 lb 34D I have had skimming fit in sheaths sized SM from Columbia and Pact. Wool& seems to have made odd fit choice in the tulip. I would have discussed with customer service before posting but unable to call them directly so awaiting return call. I am returning the XS immediately and hoping to see how Medium fits before sending the SM back.
This is the body-con dress that dreams are made of! I wear a S in all other wool& shirts and dresses but took a M in this.
Fabric feels nice. The length looks good on me.
The cut does not work for me- it highlights my stomach and butt (I should have realized by looking at the pictures).
The ruching/ gather at the waist is only on one side, so the armhole on the opposite side does a weird thing.
No pockets? I did not realize this.
Knowing it will shrink a bit, I should have tried a size L.
Will be returning.
This is a beautifully cut dress, but the fabric is ridiculously thin so my feeling is that it would likely not last long with regular wear and would therefore not be worth the cost. That's why I'm returning it. For me, form fitting dresses need to be made of more a substantial fabric, not less. Size-wise, I am between sizes Small and Medium, ordered a Medium which mostly fit except for some extra room on the top. If I was going to keep this dress I would need to order a Small, have it in a thicker fabric, or have it come lined. Unfortunately the cute style of the skirt would make wearing a slip difficult because it would show in the split.
I ordered a different dress a couple months ago but returned it because it was a bit too big on me and the V-neck was a little loose for my liking, but I really liked the material and otherwise liked the fit so I decided to try a different style. I just got my black tulip tank dress today and I love it, the fit is perfect! My measurements are approximately 36 hips, 26 waist, 33 bust. It is comfortable and fitted but without being too tight and clingy. The higher neckline and more fitted cut works better for me. The length is great for me (I'm short so if you are taller it will be a little short for you). It hits slightly above the knee in the front and slightly below the knee in the back, maybe 2 inches either way. I think the black can definitely be dressed up some or worn casually. Very glad I decided to give another style a try!
