This dress is just what I hoped it would be! I've only had it a few days, and I've already found several ways to layer it to achieve my aesthetic. The way I feel in this dress is exactly how I have always wanted clothes to make me feel. As some others have said, the only thing I would change is to make the sleeves an inch or two longer. But even if the sleeves stay exactly as they are, I'm already planning on saving up to get another one in black. (I got the forest marl, so lovely.)
I have the Rowena in black. I'm 100% certain it's becoming a staple of my small wardrobe. The stretchy fabric drapes well without bulk, but it's not so clingy that it emphasizes the lumps my bra makes. It's easy to layer this and/or wear a belt over it. I'm an hourglass shape, yet this dress is kinda shapeless. So keep that in mind that maybe size down if you want something that is more curve hugging to your top half. As it is on me, it drapes well enough when worn loose that I don't specifically feel like I'm wearing a tent, but it definitely is flowy and not curve hugging. I usually wear mediums or larges depending on the ampleness of hip regions in clothes. The medium would fit me I imagine, but I wanted super cozy so I ordered an L.
I usually wear between a medium and a small but I went with the extra small after reading other reviews. I am glad that I did because to me the body of the dress would have been to loose otherwise. If you do not like the arms being snug I would stick with your normal size. I picked long because I wanted it to come down below the knees. I got this dress for the challenge and I have been able to wear it as a top, as a dress, and as a skirt. Its been very easy to wear all the time.
I love this dress. It’s easy to style and fun to wear. It’ll be perfect for fall and winter.
the dress is super comfortable. It fits perfect on my broad shoulders and across across my B cup chest...but, I am a slender person and The dress is overly roomy below my chest. So much air moves inside of it that I get chilled Below my chest. My arms are the perfect temperature. I think if the dress an option of not being so roomy/slimmer version? this wouldn’t be a problem. Love the pockets And love the longer length I purchased. Excited to have a lightweight wool dress but I haven’t washed it yet.
I love the drape and weight of my Rowena swing, it flatters my slightly "lumpy" belly just right. With capri leggings, or when it is warmer out, compression shorts underneath I feel comfortable getting up and down on the floor with my students. A lovely classic dress, I cannot decide which style to go with next, but I know I will have at least one more Rowena Swing.
I love the dress. I am attempting to do the 100 day challenge, and so far, so good. I've washed it twice on two weeks. It really does seem to repel offensive odors.
This dress had pockets! Nice pockets! They aren't as secure as pants pockets. You really should take your phone out of your pocket when sitting on a toilet, for exemple, but they are good enough to keep me from needing to carry a purse when I go out.
Slip in on, dress it up, dress it down, go anywhere. No worries about fit ... no worries about anything. Now I own it in three colors. I couldn’t be happier.
As excited as I was when I first heard about this dress and the concept behind it, I was hesitant to pull the trigger just due to sizing alone. Even though there's a long version it's just extra inches at the hem. Fellow tall ladies know that tall clothes need more modifications than just hem length, like tweaks at the bust, shoulders, and sleeves (and waist, of course, but since this is a swing dress that's not relevant here). Sleeves are a personal pet peeve of mine: I absolutely cannot STAND sleeves that end above my wristbone. After agonizing over the sizing chart and comparing the measurements to my existing clothes, as well as scouring reviews for feedback from other tall ladies, I finally took a gamble and ordered a M Long in forest night marl. The color is a beautiful dark marled green. As others have noted the material is thin, which I expected, and makes it excellent for layering (both with camis underneath and sweaters on top). I think it would be MUCH less versatile if it was heavier. But, most importantly... the sleeves are actually decent! My personal preference is for extra long sleeves that cover the heel of my palm. This dress doesn't make it that far, but the sleeves do hit me right at the wristbone, which is fine. I've washed it once so far (worn it for 7 consecutive days now), which I did by hand with Eucalan and air dried. I did some sneaky pseudo-blocking while it was drying and gently tugged the sleeves a bit longer, which helped a bit too. I would still LOVE a tall version of this dress, even if it was available in just one color! Some mods to the shoulders/armpit area and making the sleeves just a smidge longer would make this thing a slam dunk. But even still, I'm happy with my purchase and have been enjoying experimenting with all the different ways to wear it.
I’ve been wearing this dress for 13 days straight now. My first impression was how light yet durable the fabric feels. I was going to wait to start the 100 day dress challenge, but quickly decided this was a dress I want to wear all the time. It’s not itchy at all like a wool sweater would feel. The material has a nice sheen and holds up well! The cut is very flattering and looks great with a belt around the waist!
