I love this dress. The fit is wonderful and the fabric is a dream. I haven't owned anything quite like this dress before and am sold on durable wool clothing.
I love the texture and the color (gray) is pretty good for frequent wearing. Fits great across the bust shoulders etc. I’m more apple than pear so very roomy on the hips. Only complaint... I bot the L why are the sleeves so tight? After a couple of days wear they are better but I wonder what happens after I wash. Not sure about the 100 days but I plan on wearing it a lot. Looks good n zoom.
I did the pandemic thing and bought a Winnebago Revel so I could see my kids and grandkids on the west coast (I live in New England). Already owned 3 Rowenas in various colors. Took one with me for 3 month trip - a month driving and 2 months in Santa Barbara CA. The Rowena was PERFECT for travel. Kept is on a hanger when I could, but also it spent time rolled up in my packing cube. Always looked good. Wore with leggings when colder, capris when warmer. With and without a sweater depending on temperatures. I worked from the van and the Rowena made me looked dressed up for all my zoom calls. Back home now but still wearing. Easy and flattering all in one. I look at my walk in closet and think "I know I have too many clothes". I'm in the textile industry and know how wasteful and destructive to the plant our fast fashion addiction is - the van trip (living in 77 sq ft) and the Rowena have cured me!
I have so many good things to say about this dress (and I've worn it several times a week for 2 months). The fit is flattering, the fabric is smooth and soft, it's perfectly warm to layer in winter without getting sweaty while walking out in the cold. I use it for my work wardrobe, paired with a suit jacket or cardigan. It can be dressed up or down, and worn with different accessories so no one realizes you are wearing the same dress multiple days a week. What I love most about it, except for how good it looks, is that I air it out in the fresh air instead of washing it and get away with doing much less laundry. It also does not need ironing and saves me time. My goal is to get this dress in different colours and create a capsule wardrobe for work (I got the iron gray and love the colour!). The only negative thing that I can say is that I wish the fabric was a bit thicker and I wish there was an option for the Rowena with thicker fabric. If I wear a bra with a little lace, you can clearly see the lace through the fabric, that's how thin it is. I'm sure that the thin fabric is great for many, but I had expected it to be thicker and it would have suited my purposes better. I do love it though and will be buying more in different colours (one at a time).
I got the plum, and it is a nice color, not as blue as some plums, more like a cranberry... but very comfortable. It's a little big around the bust, but I'm not big, I got the regular length and that works well, belted it's not too short. Shoulder fit is good, and I worried about the arms being tight, but they stretch some. Just out of curiousity I've tried wearing it every day, not sure if I really want to do it for 100 days, but I've made it 13 days, and it only needed washing because I spilled coffee on it. Works well for February Seattle weather. Makes a good base layer. is sort of a tenty shape, but drapes well, and is lighter silky jersey knit than I expected, but isn't see through at all.
I am on the 20th day of my 100 Day Wool Challenge wearing Rowena (black). As I'm retired I don't have to prepare professional outfits like some of the women in the challenge do so beautifully. But as someone who learned to knit at the age of five, I have a stack of sweaters and wraps that work beautifully with Rowena over tights or yoga pants. I've been struck by how many resources (e.g., energy & water) we waste, not just in the making and selling of clothes but in how we as purchasers care for them! Yesterday I ran my first load of laundry in 20 days, and it will be another 20 days before I run my second. It is so easy to hand wash and line dry not just Rowena but underclothes too. Last night I looked at my closet and chest of drawers and asked myself, "Do I really need all those clothes?"
The quality of the fabric seems excellent - nice knit, thickness, and drape - and I soooo wanted this dress to fit and be my new favorite. I know it is designed to be a bit roomy, but the words that came to mind when I put it on were muumuu and and maternity dress. I am very petite and fit, so I don't have much in the way of curves, unfortunately, and this dress emphasizes that and looks at least two sizes too big. I returned it and will hope hope hope that wool& considers designing some styles that fit small people better, or at least offering petite sizes.
We're sorry to hear you didn't love your dress. While some customers prefer the loose, swingy fit, others size down for a more trim fit. We've noted your petite sizing and have passed it on to our design team. We hope you find a dress you love!
The Rowena is the most comfortable dress I own. It has a nice drape and hides my lumps and bumps very well. It can be dressed up or dressed down. Perfect for every occasion.
This dress is awesome! It's only day 9 of the challenge, but I'm loving it. The fabric is light, which works well with layering. Every morning, I grab a pair of leggings and find an accessory. Simple and easy!! I've washed it once, laid it on a towel for a few hours, then hung it up. It dried rather quickly:)
