It’s rare that something right out of a package fits me, but this dress does! The length is right for my short frame and the sleeves fit well. It is loose on me, but that’s what I was looking for. It’s comfortable and flattering on its own, and I can always wear a belt or a fitted top.
The one surprise for me was how light the dress is. I thought it would be a little thicker and am a little worried about longevity. It still does the job I want, though. I recently went for a long winter walk and wore the dress, two pairs of leggings, and my coat. Ordinarily I have trouble getting my layers right and I would have been sweaty or cold on top, but my core was perfect.
I decided the 100 Day Challenge would be fun, since I live in Wisconsin, it’s winter, and I’m working from home in a cold room. I’m only a week into the challenge, but it’s been fun to see what I can break out of my closet to can wear with my dress. I anticipated using it more as a “uniform,” but so far I’ve gotten more creative than I expected.
I haven’t put it through the washing machine yet and will try to report back once I do. I’ve just spot cleaned the underarm areas with Woolite and that’s been sufficient, which is shocking because I’m someone who sweats A LOT and I switched to non-aluminum deodorant as advised by wool&.
My Rowena Stripe is my new best friend. I'll be said when my 100 day challenge is over!
My black Rowena (regular length) arrived yesterday, and I started the 100 day challenge today. (I will be chronicling the 100 days on Instagram [strikkedronning].). After I opened the package, I modeled the dress for my husband. His jaw literally dropped; he loves this dress. He told me he was expecting some sack-like dress. Well, it’s no sack!
The material is lovely - has a wonderful drape and stretch - and the dress is extraordinarily comfortable to wear. The neckline is flattering and the sleeves long enough for my long arms! As it’s winter, I expect I will be wearing it over leggings, tights and pants and under sweaters.
Got the Rowena in Iron Grey. I love this color because it's great neutral and goes with so much!
The fabric is beautiful-- it is soft and has a nice light luster.
I was hesitant about buying a swing dress because I usually like A-line dresses or more form-fitting ones, but once I've gotten used to styling it with belts and cardigans, I absolutely love it. I LOVE the back pleat and neckline, too! It's very well-designed, and I'm very happy with my purchase.
The purchasing process was easy. I sent an email with a question and received a quick response.
The shipping was another story, and I would say it was not the fault of Wool& I ordered my dress on Dec. 19th and it was shipped by Wool& Dec. 21st. The USPS did not deliver my dress until January 8th.
After the long wait, I was excited to open my little brown bag. I was not disappointed. The dress color is beautiful and it fits well. The length is a little longer than I expected, but I think its working for me. The fabric is comfortable and easy to wear. I am only on day 11 of the challenge, but so far I am really enjoying the diversity of the simple Rowena Swing Dress.
This is the first online challenge I have participated in. I am enjoying it and I particularly enjoy following others. I'm learning a lot about how to make the best of my wardrobe.
So, 11 days down and 89 to go!! Let the challenge continue.
Very comfortable dress. I can get 3-5 days of wear before washing, which is great. The website says you can wash and dry as normal. So, I did. My only complaint is the hem started rolling. Probably because the fabric is preshrunk but the stitching doesn't seem to be. The stitching has gotten tight. Not what I expected for $138.
Fits great, comfy as all get out and I lost count of the compliments I received.
Here's what I love about this dress:
- POCKETS! These pockets don't interrupt the line of the dress, are deep, and useful. Love them.
- It's extremely comfortable. Major A+ for Wool& is the fact that their clothing is sized generously. My curvey body very much appreciates that.
- It's merino wool - so comfortable, and a performance materials that keeps me warm while I'm active outdoors in it without needing a ton of layering.
- Versatility - I bought the jewel green -and even though it's not a neutral color, I can wear it in dozens of styles, either simply with just dress and leggins, dress it up with any scarf, add a cardigan to break up the lines, today I wore it with an over- sized sweater; I've tied the skirt into a knot and worn it as a shirt for yoga, hiking, etc. It's a base piece that can support many different looks.
- Don't have to wash it very often. (yay!)
I'm also participating in the 100 day dress challenge and am glad to be doing it in the Rowena, which is loose, comfy, and made to last.
I love the pockets and how comfortable the dress is to wear. The sleeves are a little tight on the large but the rest of the dress is super loose and comfy. I am normally a medium, but just wanted to be comfortable, so kind of bummed that the sleeves are tight.
I’m 5’ exactly and worried that a swing dress would be a tent on me, but happily no! My M Rowena in Marine Blue fits perfectly across the shoulders and is still short enough to look great with patterned leggings, my favorite outfit. It also complements most of my scarves, shirts, and cardigans, including my handknits. I’ll have no trouble accessorizing with variety for 100 days and beyond :)
