I am on day 14 with my modern red marl Rowena dress. I washed at day 10 out of an odd feeling of obligation, but honestly she did not need it. I live on the coast of Oregon were our seasons are winter, winter light, and smoke. It took almost 24 hours to dry inside (too smokey outside). I am sure in a less humid, warmer, and less smokey climate she would not have taken so long. I have EDS that has caused dysautonomia and chronic CFS leaks, so I love being able to just grab clothing and go. No passing out or overheating while trying to find clothes! Passing out while trying to get clothes on is quite possibly the lamest thing in the known world. I was concerned about sizing, but this was not a problem. My top half, very inconsiderately, does not match my bottom half so I bought a swing dress that would fit my upper half. The 1x Rowena was my choice. Shipping was super fast (but then I am not that far from the source.) The dress fits great, resists stink like nobodies business, washes beautifully (I hand wash), and somehow keeps me cool even when I am driving through the valley at 112 degrees or moving furniture when the house is warm and stuffy. It is a wonder for sure. I think its woolish trick is that even if you get all hot and sweaty in the dress, you cool off afterwards very efficiently. (Too bad I was just moving furniture around and not something more fun.)
BTW can you guys please make clothing like this for teenage boys who hate to change clothes and therefore stink to the high heavens??? Please????
I never thought I would like the swing dress. At first, it seems pretty shapeless. After reading reviews and seeing all the pics of how women styled them, I decided to give it a go. I purchased the dusty blue and then one in plum. I'm not doing the 100 day challenge, but I'm so looking forward to wearing these frequently. Right now I have the dusty blue on with just a scarf, but I've belted them as well and they look great! Super comfortable, love the fabric. I don't have a full length mirror, so can't get a good pic, but will try to add one later.
I love my Dusty Blue Rowena dress! Easily my favorite item in the closet! I wear it for hiking, teaching, and grocery shopping! It’s the perfect casual dress or tunic!
I have just completed my 100 Day Challenge in the Forest Night Marl Rowena. I've seen comments online from people who aren't sure of the color based on the website photos. Think deep, army green. My personal coloring is Deep/Dark Autumn, and Forest Night is my "black." It goes with everything! To be honest, when I first tried on my Rowena, I didn’t like it. It was a sack. If I were in a store, it would have gone back on the rack. I had seen so many creative outfits online, so I started pulling sweaters, t-shirts, and belts from my closet. This sack transformed itself into the most versatile piece of clothing I own. I have been converted to the swing dress! It really is amazing that this dress can go from pajamas (yes, some people sleep in their dresses during the challenge) to elegant with just a few accessories. The Rowena is the perfect blank canvas for every mood, and it has held up amazingly well. Buy this dress in whatever color suits you; just buy. this. dress. :)
Besides my typical everyday activities, I have worn Rowena for gardening, kayaking, hiking and camping. I am nearing my 100 day milestone and am ready to report my experiences and observations and tell you why I love my 100 day dress. I sew many of my own garments and was interested in seeing how Rowena was constructed and how the garment and fabric held up over time. The fabric and the stitching have not shown signs of wear or tear. Although some
customers have reported dissapointment at how "thin" the fabric is, it is a tight knit, very fluid, and has a lovely hand, all signs of quality fabric. It did not stretch out of shape or pill over time. The stitching has held up, even in high stress areas such as armholes and sleeve hems. The fabric dries very quickly. At first I was disappointed in the deep armhole but recognize that for a fuller bust this is necessary. Over time I came to appreciate that I had some roominess under the arms... less sweat directly on the fabric. The swing style belted well when I wanted a trim fit and was roomy enough to accomodate the bulk of either winter leggings or traditional hiking pants underneath. My favorite moment in my dress came when I was walking through a state park campground and another camper called out from his picnic table "Hello! Is that a 100 day dress?" Two of his neighbors were participating in the challenge. Kudos, Wool&. Word is getting around.
I love this. Beautiful fabric, well constructed... I will be ordering another piece. I cannot do the 100 day challenge because I am a farm girl living in the deep south..high humidity and mid-90's every day..But I love it! Fits great and hits right above the knee.
My black L Rowena was worn for over 100 days and is still in rotation. It was altered and shortened to tunic length but is still too big for me. It remains good for cold weather layering.
With this order I sized down to medium. It was fine across bust and shoulders but still excessive for my frame. Now, if I were several inches taller it would be perfect.
I kept the Maggie - it works beautifully!
I cannot believe how much I enjoy wearing this dress. It is lightweight and very comfortable. I went hiking in it and then wore it to a nice dinner out. Cleans fast and goes with anything. I like wearing it with the sleeves rolled into themselves when it’s hotter out and the flexibility to have them long when it’s cold. Can’t wait to wear it all year round!
I love this dress and I have already had lots of compliments.I was afraid it would be itchy or hot for Southern summers, but it is soft and ....perfect. My daughter is joining me in the 100 day challenge.
I got the Rowena Swing Dress. What a perfect find. The fit is great and the fabric is just the right weight and feel. I've been able to dress it up or down with accessories. Wish I could wear it everywhere and everyday.
