This is my second 100% wool Sloan LS tee. I bought burgundy for winter and liked it so much I got a second in black, primarily for spring and fall baseball, but I am finding it to be a regular go-to as it can be dressed up for work or relaxing on the weekend. Pros: comfortable/smooth, flattering fit, can be worn alone or easily as a base layer, washable, holds up well, and wool's natural SPF. Cons: limited color selection. I prefer 100% wool and would like to see this in more colors.
The Sloan is a very satisfactory shirt--as the title says, durable, breathable, comfortable, and perfectly capable of multiple wearings before it needs washing. I don't think it's too thin--I mean, it's meant to be a fitted, breathable layer, and I certainly can't see through it. I'd say it also runs very true to size if you like things fitted--if you want it roomy, I'd go up a size. I have an older version in another color; it's going strong several years later, and only gets silkier and softer as it's washed more. On that older one, the side seams were positioned a bit oddly, skewed a bit so that one seam was more toward the back and the other seam cutting a slight diagonal line down the front; but it wasn't very noticeable, especially under other layers, and I think that's been corrected in this version. Merino is an amazing fabric, and the colors are deep and beautiful.
Customer service was excellent. Medium fit me well. But... It was so sheer and thin that it was see-through. We "wear" our wool so this would get caught and ripped too easily. Also very itchy. They said it would get softer after washing, but it was too thin anyway. So I returned it. I can buy 4x thicker AND softer elsewhere that is still 100% wool.
Decided to try this brand because of the good color options. The fit is fine and I do love the color, but the fabric is much thinner than what I get for the same price elsewhere
We're sorry to hear that the fabric wasn't what you hoped it'd be. We're glad to hear the fit was good and hope you'll stick with us!
I tried this shirt in teal and bought two more colors - emerald and burgundy. I can usually wear them three days in a row, so three lets me wear one every day and do laundry weekly. (I machine wash low delicate, hang or lie flat to dry - or hand wash in hotel sink when traveling). They are perfect for all occasions - alone for fall and spring, under a flannel shirt for winter.
