I purchased a Willow Long and while I like the dress it seems tight in the arms and kind of short for a "long". Thinking of selling it....loved my Rowena....
I love the dress--I'm waiting for the weather to get a bit cooler before starting the challenge officially, but already I kind of just want to wear the dress daily. It's comfortable, attractive (it is loose, but I like that), and I've worn it so far for four days without washing and it's fine. I like the length, although I would also order one that was a few inches longer (and I'm short to start with, so it's longer on me than some already).
I do have a few things that are hard to tell without having it in person, that I thought people might find useful to know. The fabric is lighter and has a more fluid drape than I'd anticipated from the pictures--not what I'd consider a typical wool texture. It is quite soft and comfortable next to the skin. Because of this light drape, the pockets are not as functional as I'd hoped; they're fine for something light, but the weight of my phone pulls the whole dress askew. The pockets are at a fairly unflattering point for me, although the hang means that unless I actually have something in it, that doesn't really matter. It can definitely make it through several wears without starting to smell much, but it is worth noting that if you get even just a bit damp under it, it does start to smell faintly of wet wool--which doesn't bother me at all, but some people might not enjoy it. I've heard some people say that they find wool comfortable in all temperatures, but for me this dress is noticeably warmer than other fabrics of similar weights. It'll be a great seasonal dress for me, but I don't anticipate wearing it year-round.
I'm still quite happy with it! The only real disappointment is the pockets, and with this cut and this weight of fabric I'm not sure it'd be possible to do any better. I'm looking forward to wearing the dress for a long, long time!
At just under 5'4", I hoped the long version would hit close to the bottom of the knee, but it falls near to the top of my knee. When walking, the hem can rise to an inch or two above the knee. I am near 70 and prefer a longer dress. The dress fits well otherwise, is comfortable, a good weight, and decent drape. I like the V neck and pockets (although the pockets don't lay completely flat). But its use will be limited. I will wear it mostly as a long tunic over pants or a longer slip dress.
I am 34 days into the 100 challenge. I purposely put off writing this review because I find reviews written by someone who has used a product for awhile far more helpful than someone who just bought one. After 34 days of wearing my dress I am delighted at how well it is holding up! After several washes it maintains its luster, it has no pills, and it has kept its shape. All the seams are holding up and it has maintained its color. I have chosen to wash it in Eucalan, which may be a factor to be considered. The dress is comfortable and soft. I look great whether going grocery shopping, going out to dinner, or going to a concert. Before, I rarely wore a dress--now I can't believe how versatile, comfortable, and classy it feels to be in one all of the time. Another thing--this is probably one of the best travel dresses out there. Not only does it stay (and smell) cleaner longer, but it dries overnight and, if laid out to dry neatly, does not need to be ironed or steamed. The wrinkles, if there are any, hang out. Well worth the price.
I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever get my dress, but it did finally arrive - 5 months after ordering. I wish I had had this dress for the summer but it was definitely worth the wait.
I love everything about this dress - the fabric (feels light but not clingy), the fit (perfect! not too swingy as others have opined), the style (prefer the V-neck of the Willow to the rounded neck of the Rowena), the comfort, and the versatility (black, of course).
I ordered the long and I wish it was a tad longer. It does fit me as shown in the photo but I would like it a bit longer.
Some of this feedback is completely my fault - I should have taken the time to order multiple sizes to try on and back what didn't work but I looked at the sizes and the fact that the dresses seemed to have swing and give and figured it would be fine. I love the feel of the dress and the comfort, but the pockets hit right at the largest part of my hips and the length isn't super flattering. I always order long because of my fat knees but I probably should have tried multiple options on first before I settled on one. Maybe even multiple styles. I was anxious to get my dress and start the challenge and didn't spend enough time considering the right dress for me. When I choose my next dress I will do a lot more trying on first. Its just hard when you have to purchase and then return through the mail. But I would buy another because it is very comfortable.
I ordered a couple styles and sizes before I found the perfect combo with Willow long-large. Love the v-neck and 3/4 sleeves. It's easy to layer and the sleeves fit snug for layering, but not too snug.
Rowena long large was too big and too swingy for me. Willow medium was tight across chest and shoulders. Camellia tencel in large was a perfect fit and beautiful fabric feel, but not a great color nor warm enough heading into Fall. Willow in large was mostly right. I purchased the charcoal heather and dyed it my perfect color. Now I have a dress I feel great wearing for the challenge and beyond.
I heard about the 100-day challenge and curiosity got the best of me. I'm so glad it did! One week into the challenge, and so far I've had a ton of fun getting creative with the dress and pieces I already have, and I love simplifying my choices in the morning. The light weight is great and I love the color, and I don't find the wool itchy at all. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the challenge goes!
The Willow in long length is exactly what I'd hoped for - versatile, pretty, and above all, comfortable! I love the cut of the dress, with its 3/4 length sleeves and V neck. The washed navy is actually prettier in person than in the photo online. I worried a little about it possibly being too long but it hits right at my knees. The weight is comfortable and easily layered for cooler weather. I hope I can get this in another color sometime next year.
I considered doing the 100 day challenge but decided just this morning that I wouldn't, in part because I have worked to make my wardrobe limited and intentional and I want to get back to a few items before the season changes. But I feel sure I'm going to wear this dress a frequently.
It's 85 degrees here, and the dress is extremely comfortable. When I wore it the first day I thought 'Oh! this is great, I want one in every color...' But that's not the point, is it? I'm now on day 4 of the 100 day challenge and loving the dress.
