LOVE this jacket! I can wear it on its own or with a tank or tee underneath. It's light weight, warm (but not too warm), and fits very well. A great purchase.
This hoodie has become a go-to favorite. It is both casual and classy— a step up from most zip up hoodies. Great as a warm layer over a shirt on cold days and will be a great jacket substitute in the spring and fall, and on cool summer nights. It will have a permanent place on my packing list for time away
I actually ordered a less expensive hoody from another wool brand in 2 sizes (XL and 1X) before I bought this hoody. Neither fit - XL fit, 1X too big, but both were super clingy, so I sent them back. I had a credit at Wool& so decided to splurge and try a hoody in XXL. I likely wouldn't have bought this without the credit because of the cost. When it arrived, I was surprised at how thin the material was. I think I was expecting a thicker terry like the Sierra. Instead, it's a mid-weight between the shirts and the Sierra. I was actually slightly underwhelmed when I received it. The fit is good, perhaps a little loose. Like others have mentioned, I could have gone down a size, but I wanted something to layer. I like that the hood is huge and it doesn't hug my midsection like the other brand did. I felt like it was fine for fit overall, with good arm length and body length for me. I just wasn't sure I could justify the cost of this "thin" hoody. I live in the mountains, I need warmth. I put it back in the package with the intention of returning but then one day had a work meeting where I needed a light layer, and this black hoody was perfect. I put it on again, appreciating the fit. Then realized how cozy and perfect temperature regulating it was. I decided to keep it and have pretty much worn it ever since. I realized it's a fantastic layering piece. What I once thought was too thin is now perfect. I work from home, and it's great to wear all day without overheating. But, I can also wear it out for errands when temps are still in the 30s and 40s, and I'm perfectly comfortable. If I was spending a long period outside, I'd add another layer or jacket, but running around, I'm good. I've worn it in rain with no issues, and it collects less dog hair than other clothes (still some, but less). Overall, I'm super happy with it and feel like it's the perfect layering piece as I downsize my wardrobe and get rid of all those old black hoodies with logos on them. I haven't washed it yet because there is no smell, another plus. I'm a convert. I might even buy another one someday but for now, black works for me. Thanks, Wool& for another great functional and cozy piece!
Aspen hoodie review. Both of these sweatshirts are XL. The black is the Aspen hoodie and it feels like a slightly heavy long sleeved shirt with a full front zipper, slimmer cut. The maroon is a Champion brand hoodie from my college, that is a typical sweatshirt hoodie feel. About 10 years ago I had a “long sleeved shirt posing as a hoodie that was good to keep off a light chill” and I loved it to death. That is what the Aspen will become. When I lived in central coast of California, the Aspen would’ve been perfect year round. If you’re from the north and you usually wear a hoodie like the Champion brand as a spring/fall jacket, the Aspen hoodie is too thin to keep out the cold, in my opinion. The Aspen is thin enough to be a layer under another jacket, while the Champion is not able to be layered easily under another jacket.
I love the style and feel of my new hoodie. The weight is perfect for those times when a coat is too heavy. Forest Night is a very nice color color and I was pleased that the dye lot matched my Forest Night pants.
