I ordered a pair and found they fit comfortably without pinching or bagging. Hey did a great job of protecting my legs from chub rub. Being merino, the shorts didn't need to be washed after every wearing. I wear them 2-3 times a week and wash them every other week. I don't detect any odor at all. I liked them so much, I ordered a second pair in case I needed to wear a pair while the first pair is airdrying. I also found I could wear them comfortably in my yoga class. They were not see through and they were extremely comfortable for the class. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a lightweight bike short, especially if you live in a warm climate like I do. The size chart says "XL" and that is what I bought. However, most of my Wool& dresses are size 'L"
Got these shorts in the rose color to wear under dresses during free gift with purchase promotion (which was fabulous!!). Very comfortable but wouldn’t wear them on their own due to their sheerness. Would get in other colors.
Love how these feel, wool is my new best friend. The fit is great, just enough hug but not too much. Wear these under dresses and skirts or with a sports bra for yoga! I have the rose color for under dresses and the black for yoga. I wear them with my wool bikini undies and they are good for many days before I feel the need to wash them. Mostly I just hang them at night and they are ready to go the next day. I felt weird not putting them in the laundry every time I wore them but then I remembered my mom, who spent a good part of her youth in Europe and wore lots of Italian wool clothing. She had a top for over 20 years that had never been laundered, just spot cleaned. She said that was how they treated wool clothing and it never held a smell. I recently took a trip to Portugal and a trans-Atlantic cruise home with all wool wardrobe ( One Willow dress, one Axis legging, 2 wool t-shirts, one Frankie short, 2 wool bikini undies and 2 wool braletts. A couple of scarfs and a bit of jewelry for accessories.) Just a quick rinse when needed, I brought a small bottle of wool washing soap for any smelly bits, then rolled in a towel and then an overnight hang or a quick hit with a cool blow dryer and all was ready to go again. Best of all, It all fit in a little under the airplane seat bag. LOVED it!! Hubby thought I looked great every day.
I'm not sure I would have thought to buy these on my own, but when I found that all the t-shirt colors I liked were sold out in my size for the November free gift, I decided to give them a try. I'll start by noting that I am wearing these as underwear, not as shorts. I don't think they would work as shorts on their own: they're too transparent. As chub-rub shorts paired with other undies they're probably fine, but I don't want that many extra layers personally. I am much too spoiled by my 9-inch inseam gender neutral boxer briefs from another brand I won't mention here.
As a wool replacement for those boxer briefs, these have a lot of potential. They're a good length, long enough to prevent thigh chafe, and they stay in place impressively well. The fit is good, exactly as suggested by the size chart. The material is both soft and stretchy and not at all itchy (very important in underwear). The wool handles sweat better than my usual cotton underwear. While the fabric is thin, it feels sturdy enough.
The main downside here is the high waist. Yes, the hidden pocket in the waistband is nice, but I am just never going to like high waists. They always end up feeling constricting around my stomach. I can roll the waistband down, but then there's more bulk than I'd like from a pair of underwear, especially if I'm pairing them with my new Axis leggings and also rolling down the waistband on those. If you like high waists, as I know a lot of people do, I highly recommend these.
At this price point, I'm not inclined to pick up another pair when the waist isn't what I like. When warm weather comes around again, we'll see if I end up reaching for these more or sticking with my usual cotton boxers. Maybe the wool will turn out to be worth the high waist. Make a mid-rise version, especially with another inch or two to the legs, and I'll snap them up in a heartbeat.
Thank you so much for making lighter colors for the Frankie bike short. I wear these as undies, but black shows through the lighter color dresses. I've bought bother the Cinnamon and Light Rose colors. Thank you for listening to my previous review requesting an almond type color. I've a 33 inch waist and 40 inch hips, and the size L fits a bit loose, but I don't like tight clothing. I'm normally a M in the Wool& dresses.
