Love this throw . . . color and weight! Just enough extra warmth to take the chill off without being stiffling!
I did not expect to love this throw so much, but the #astoriathrowchallenge convinced me to give it a try. In fact, I'd ordered it last fall and sent it back (jaw drop) because it felt a bit too thin for the squishy blanket I was imagining. Oops! I hadn't thought to style it as a wrap, a triangle shawl, a scarf on a cold winter's day, a substitute for a cardigan... it's perfect for all of these. I was going to knit myself a triangle shawl, but instead, I just fold my wrap into a triangle and away I go. Or I drape it around my winter coat and when I get to my destination, I wrap it around me like a shawl and feel oh-so-put-together. Even if it's not made of the sweatshirt-like Sierra fabric (which is what I'd been imagining) it also works well on the couch as a quick blanket, and I think it'll be great for travel, too, truth be told. The washed navy color is nice: a subtle blue, dark, works well as a neutral. I'm so glad I gave this throw another try!
It's so soft, and squishy, and warm. I love it. I bought it as my reward for completing the 100 day challenge and I've used it daily since I received it. I love it.
-Is it soft? Yes!
-Is it warm? Yes!
-Is it lightweight? Yes!
-Can you travel with it? Yes!
I have been using it at home all the time. Our home is chillier right now and so we layer and snuggle with a throw to stay warm. My Astoria is able to do both! I knot it to make a shawl/wrap and snuggle under it if I'm going to sit for awhile. It's the perfect size. Not too big, like a bed blanket, and not too small. I can wear it or cover with it. Plus, it is so soft. My perception of wool has always been that it is scratchy. But this is soft and jersey-like and a perfect weight. I'm so happy with it.
I waited for Astoria throws to come back in stock and boy, they were totally worth the wait! I ordered two, washed navy and cool olive. I wasn't quite sure if they would work as a shawl or scarf, my two primary purposes were to stay toasty in the car or going to a movie theatre that seems to have forgotten how to turn on their heat 😉.
I was pleasantly surprised that absolutely they can be worn as a scarf or shawl easily. Their drape is very flattering. The colours on both are deep and have depth. I also love the weight, they definitely have some heft to them. Based on how they wear over the next year, how they hold up to cleaning I suspect I will be buying two more next year. At this point I feel confident that I could get rid of all my winter scarfs and replace them with an Astoria throw or four 🙃 .
Please consider a plum, purple, or a bright teal... 😀!
I bought this to use as a wrap/shawl. I hesitated for weeks because of concern it would be too thick. It's not. I love it. On walks, I often wear a light wool jacket instead of a coat because I overheat all of the time. With chilly winds, I need more layers and the Astoria is perfect for that. It will also do wonderfully dressed up for any occasion. The charcoal heather is a beautiful dark silvery grey. I'm very happy with the purchase!
I was very pleased to be able to add the Astoria throw to my growing collection of Wool&. It is lightweight, not scratchy, and cozy. It also makes a nice shawl!
The Astoria throw is soft and cozy. Perfect for staying warm while chilling out at home and it can be worn a wrap or shawl. It would be perfect to keep warm while traveling as well.
