i love how comfortable this dress is.
i love how you can truly only wash it once a week.
i dont love the neckline and sleeves, its awkward. it makes my back look lumpy.
i wear it with a scarf or blazer and it looks great!
im excited to buy another style!
I purchased the Renata bell sleeve dress to use for Scottish Country dancing, where one can easily get over heated and rather sweaty. Nothing beats fine merino wool for a cooling fiber! When I first opened the package and put it on a hanger, I didn't have high hopes for it being a flattering dress. I could not have been more wrong! I am quite busty and a "few" pounds overweight but this dress is now one of the most flattering dresses I own. And it has pockets!! What's not to like? Very happy with this purchase and am sure it will get plenty of wear.
I am 5’5 195lbs and carry most extra as leftover baby belly and hips. I love this dress, especially the sleeves that are not too tight. I will feel a little more confident when I lose a little belly, but for now love wearing it with leggings that are high waist so the line isn’t so visible. Fabric is soft and flowy. Longer than my Medium Brooklyn. I ordered a large and it’s perfect. Will still fit nicely if I lose a few pounds. Bra size 38C. This fits perfectly in bust. Can’t wait for more colors, but darker color hides some lumps and bumps.
I am almost two weeks into the 100 day dress challenge, wearing the Renata in burgundy, size S. I'm shortwaisted, and the wasitband hit just at my navel before I washed it, which wasn't the MOST flattering, but acceptable. I had to wash it (cold water wash in the machine, line dry) after slipping and sliding twenty feet down a slime-covered granite hill, and now the waistband hits at the bottom of my ribs, which is my preferred and most flattering place for it, so yay. I enjoy it, but I did feel a bit overheated when it was 78 degrees inside at the end of December. Today I'm wearing it with a sweater, and it's perfectly comfortable. At wool&, the tank top fits me best in an XS, but an S is okay, and M is too big. Leggings are best in M, so I went for S with the dress, and I'm glad I did. It has plenty of room for my hips, and doesn't do weird things at my armpits, which a medium would have. The wool is very comfortable, though not quite as soft as the 100% merino in the tank tops. I appreciate the smooth waistband and slightly dramatic sleeves.
Renata was my 100-day Challenge Reward dress. I took a gamble on it because it's a newer design and not many plus-sized women had weighed in on how it fit yet. I am so glad I did! I LOVE this dress. It's very flattering to my pear shape. The bell sleeves are cute - more subtle than I was expecting. I am all about the elastic waist, which gives me some definition. I love my curves, and I don't want to hide them! I also really like the fabric weight Wool& went with on this dress. Overall, I can't say enough nice things about this dress. I hope it takes off so that it becomes available in more colors - I would be in heaven if there was a pine green version!
I generally wear a 2XL in Wool& dresses but loved the fit of the XXL Renata. My best tip for a good fit, and this goes for all Wool& dresses, is to get out your measuring tape and really look at all those dress dimensions they list. Measure dress length from your shoulder to see where the hem of this, or any other dress, is going to hit. Check the waist and hips against your measurements. Compare the swing to other dresses you own. A little math up front will save you from getting the wrong size or a length you don't like. Hope this is helpful!
I ordered several dresses and ended up keeping the Renata in black, xxl. I also tried the red and found it was more keen to show underwear lines. The dress may be the closest I have ever felt to not wearing anything at all. It's so light weight compared to my Sierra! Fantastic for work as a teacher as it keeps my ample bosom covered no matter how I bend or twist. Long enough that I don't have to worry about flashing my bum either. Breathes great in my cramped little warm classroom. Looks classy and flattering despite the extra weight I've been carrying. Highly recommend.
This is my challenge dress, and it is helping me out of my comfort zone. I typically avoid fitted dresses like this, especially around the middle. But this dress is more forgiving than I thought initially. And it is so flexible! So easily to pair with cardigans and scarves. I would recommend this to anyone considering this style for their challenge dress!
This is such a great form-flattering dress!
I love this dress. I was a bit worried that she was be too fancy, but she dresses down just fine. Renata is a great style for anyone with a boho aesthetic. The boat neck sits right on my collarbone and the waist on my natural waist. I have a large bust but it did not warp the fit. The ruching on the shoulders is subtle and doesn’t bunch up as I feared. The length is right at my knees. The sleeves are flouncy and sweet but haven’t gotten in the way of any normal activities like washing dishes or eating soup. I love to layer dresses over skirts and she plays well with that. I was so charmed by her slightly medieval look that I got another one as my reward dress.
The fabric felt good, the sleeves were fun, but the dress just hung funny on my body shape and was just a tiny bit too short to be flattering.
I can see how it would be a great dress for someone else, but if you have chunky and thighs and calves, even an inch difference in length can make the difference between flattering and not so!
Thanks for your review, Rain. We'll pass your feedback on to our design team, and hope your next dress will be totally perfect. We're so glad you loved the fabric and sleeve silhouette on this one!
