This is a well-made and beautiful dress that has garnered many compliments each time I wear it. The wrap style is lovely - no gaping in the bust, and the wrap of the skirt is substantial enough that there is no surprise gapin when sitting down. The fabric is well-made and the dark indigo color goes with everything and can be dressed up or down. There is no shaping in the back of this dress, so when wrapped, there is a bit of blousing around the waistband, which you can see in the online pictures. This will be easily fixed by adding some darts in the back, which I plan to have a tailor do. All in all, an extremely versatile piece that is flattering, work-appropriate and well-made!
I hesitated for quite a while about buying the Penny. I thought the price was a bit high for a denim dress (wrong!). As I saw it being worn by others on the FB 100 Day Dress Challenge page, I became very interested. It actually looked much better IRL. The skirt is fuller than the wool& photos, which is perfect. The color is a blackish denim and it goes with so many things in my closet. A true neutral. It's not a faux-wrap. The overlap is very generous on this true-wrap style so I never feel like the skirt will blow open or expose me when I'm sitting down. The skirt length was perfect for me.--not too short, not too long and dowdy. I like the ties so there's adjustment in the waist. I do have to wear a tank underneath as the V neck is a bit too low for me. Not a deal-breaker, in my opinion. Best of all, the fabric is so much better than standard denim. It's of a substantial weight and has a wonderful feel. After washing, the fabric softens very nicely but it's still substantial and not wimpy at all. My only improvement suggestion would be to work on the sleeves a bit. The 3/4 length is OK since I usually wear long sleeves pushed up. I'd much prefer a true long sleeve with a wider cuff with a slit and buttons/buttonholes. Ideally, the sleeves should neatly roll up for a classic casual shirtwaist look. All in all, a great addition to the wool& line up.
I like a more fitted look with dresses so I went with a small and it fits and drapes nicely. Shows curves nicely and looks professional for work.
Penny is a workhorse—rugged enough for outdoor adventures, yet appropriate for professional wear. I needed to size up to have more room in the shoulder area, yet the wrap style still gives me a good fit in the hip area. It’s a nice weight for cooler days and will work well for layering when it gets cold.I love the dark denim fabric and hope there will be more items offered in it.
Beautiful material fits well. From heels to cowboy boots
