from yarn to sweater
Our sweaters start with fine merino yarn. What changes from piece to piece is variations of the yarn and how it's knitted: thicker or finer, smooth or textured.
Here’s a quick guide to the details we list on every sweater:
Gauge: The number of needles per inch on the knitting machine. A lower gauge makes a chunkier, more textured knit, and a higher gauge makes a finer, lighter one.
Yarn size: How fine the yarn is, written like 2/30nm. The first number is how many strands are twisted together to make the yarn, and the second is its fineness. A higher second number means a finer yarn.
Ends: The number of strands of yarn knitted together as one. More ends make a thicker, warmer, more substantial fabric.
Stitch type: The pattern the yarn is knitted in, which gives a sweater its surface. Jersey is smooth and flat, rib has vertical ridges, pointelle is a delicate openwork of small holes, and cable has raised, twisted ropes. You’ll see these and more across our sweaters.
