I LOVE this dress. The waistline is in the perfect spot, the arms are the perfect fit, and it's the perfect texture and weight. The skirt falls perfectly, and it fits like a glove. I'll be wearing this dress for years to come. My only complaint is that it's a little longer on me than I expected (based on the photos), but I have short legs and I'm used to having pants and dresses hemmed. It'll be perfect in the spring/summer with sandals or flats and it looks great with boots in the fall and winter.
I have a hard time finding dresses that look okay on me because I am tall, a size 18 and have small boobs. This dress is long enough and forgiving enough that it works really well. I don't feel like I am wearing a paper bag.
I love my Fiona! I'm on day 11 of the challenge and it feels like I haven't worn it the same way twice. I get compliments all the time and it's just so comfy. The only thing I would change is the length. A petite version would be perfect! I have worn the waist band above my chest though to have a shorter skirt (with a shirt over top), so there that option. The lavender color is really beautiful and neutral enough to go with so many things! You can layer it under or over, and of course it's great with leggings and boots, my favorite outfit.
I actually rather like this dress. It looks good on its own. I also found it works well as a layering piece for some of my other dresses now that it is starting to get colder (the 100 day challenge with the Rowena dress is what got me to start layering dresses). The more fitted waist is less bulky, and provides a nice shape.
I’m naturally short waisted, with proportionately long legs for my height. I’m also barely a pear or a pear-glass, you decide, my measurements are 37-27-38.5.
I love how the Fiona flatters my shape. The waistline gravitates to my natural waist which causes slight blousing in the top. It also causes the hemline to rest just at the top of my knee. This accentuates my narrow bits and drapes nicely over my padded bits while maintaining a flattering and modest silhouette. No pulling or adjusting needed. The dress wears itself.
I am trying it here with a belt straight out of the package, but it doesn’t need one to still flatter.
I love almost anything in the purple spectrum color wise and this lavender is one of the most unique expressions of purple that I have seen in a garment. It’s so subtle, it almost looks grey in some lights. The color combines well with black, brown, and navy.
The weight of the Fiona is perfect for the current fall weather in NC, but I could wear it year round. It’s very breathable, yet the sleeves offer a little more coverage if there is chill. Speaking of the sleeves, they are designed well to pair with a cardigan. Because they are fitted near their hem, they don’t ride up, however, they have ample fabric at the upper arm to not crowd my armpits.
I completed the dress challenge with Sierra, and then selected Clara. Fiona is my third Wool& dress. Each one has qualities that I love uniquely to that garnet. Each one works well in different uses/activities for my lifestyle. I think the Fiona will be a great any day dress. I can see wearing her to lounge in, or just as easily to work, Church or a date. In the Fiona I feel effortlessly put together and ready to face the world.
