This dress is awesome. I followed the sizing chart and overall it fits well. I fit in the xxl. That being said, the top is proportionately pretty large, and as nearly everyone else has commented — The arm holes are huge! Eventually I will be getting them tailored, probably by sewing up the seam at the top of the shoulders. If you want to layer shirts under, or breastfeed in this dress, it will not be a problem. I have noticed a few snags on the dress (I’m on day 9/100) and when I washed it for the first time it had a perm smell, which was concerning. But other than these things, the dress is nice, fits well, and has not pilled yet
My friend and I decided to do the wool& dress challenge and I'm enjoying every day in the Sofia midi dress. I was a little concerned about the color at first because I chose orchid because my size was not available in the other colors. I'm beginning to see just how versatile orchid is, it looks great with everything. This is the most fun challenge ever and I love the soft, breathable fabric. I can't wait to purchase my next dress.
I love the color and the length of this dress--for me, about 5" below the knee. The fabric is stretchier than I thought it would be, but that's a good thing! However, like many others have said in their reviews, the dress is cut far too low under the arms. I had it tailored so that my entire bra doesn't show. I like the elastic fitted waist, which looks nice when I'm standing, but for some reason looks frumpy when I sit. The pockets are great for light objects, but the dress material is so stretchy, you won't want to put heavy things in them.
I received this dress last week and I adore it. The material is cooling and very soft. I tend to appreciate duller neutrals and I love the rich blue. It's rich without being too bright or garish. My husband, who loves bright colors, really likes it too. So it's an attractive color to people with very different preferences. The cut on this dress is, overall, fantastic. The elastic waist is comfortable and creates great shape, and with the small slits, the length is perfect, even on my stumpy 5'5" frame.
As others have said, the arm holes are a bit too big. Big armholes are probably my biggest pet-peeve on tops and dresses, so I was hesitant to purchase this after reading that the arm holes are large. I'm very glad I went ahead and purchased. While the armholes are large (and I would buy another if wool& fixed this issue!), they aren't so large that I'm having any real difficulties while wearing. After I put the dress on, I kind of pull the neck line up and away from my body to lift the arm holes up, and it falls where I prefer, covering my bra and underarms. I haven't found that I have to tug at it or re-adjust during the day, except maybe after using the restroom.
Regarding the pockets others find too small, I do not have the same issue. I generally don't put items in my pockets and only use them for my hands occasionally, so maybe that's why. But they seem like a normal size to me! My biggest concern about pockets on knit dresses tends to be the bulk they add. These don't add significant bulk or cause any bumps, so I'm happy with them!
This dress is a new favorite and I look forward to trying more wool& styles!
I've been looking for more merino everyday clothing because merino's moisture wicking and durability, but it's hard to find non-athletic or sporty styles. This is the first dress I've found that finally meets my needs, casual yet sophisticated. As another reviewer noted, I did find the pockets to be a bit shallow to be as useful as they could be. I tend to wear more vibrant jewel tones, hopefully more color ways will come out in this style.
