I bought this because the variously styled photos were cute. I got it and liked it fine, but it has really grown on me, especially as it has gotten cooler. I love this fabric! It’s soft and substantial and has just the right amount of stretch. I have the gray, which I typically wear over a 3/4 sleeve tee with tights. I just preordered the black. Most of my wardrobe now consists of Wooland dresses.
I really like this dress. The fit is comfortable, although there are times I wish there was more shape to it (I have a large bust). The material is soft and durable. There have been many times I have gotten something, usually food, on it and I was able to easily wash it out. The pockets are a very nice touch. While there are no pills on the outside of the dress, however the inside had a few pills that I just shaved off. If you are looking for an everyday dress, this is a good one. It is versatile and comfortable. I would recommend this to any of my friends.
Especially since the weather got cooler, I have been living in this dress. I wear a lot of wool and the Sierra is made from just the best-feeling wool. I wear jumper style with a shirt under it and with leggings, jeans, yoga pants. I'm wearing it right now.
Fit is pretty generous...I am pretty curvy all around with a large bust and the fit on my is quite comfy but not too loose. I could wear it without something under it, since my bust takes up a lot of the room in the front. If I had a smaller bust, I might recommend a cami in warmer weather. Since I'm short, it's a bit long on me, hitting just below my kneecap.
I love the pockets though I probably wouldn't keep my keys in there. They're great for errant rocks, tissues, hands and my phone, if I'm around the house.
I just preordered the black, after loving the grey so much.
The French Terry fabric was perfect for my various late summer activities. It was easy completing the 100 day dress challenge during the warmer summer months here in WNY. As September approached I paired the dress with several longer sleeved colored shirts which made the dress truly feel like a brand new outfit each time I discovered a new combo. I tried wearing the dress with a belt, but I'm very high waisted with a modest apple shape and very long legs, so that never worked for me.
It fit right out of the box, but I did choose to rinse it in warmish/coolish water before wearing it for the first time and it smelled as I expected. In fact, the smell after less than 10 washes still has a bit of that funny fresh wool smell, but I'm used to it having worked in living history around historically accurate clothing for many years. As soon as the dress dries though, the smell goes away. Spot cleaning is a breeze too! I used natural enzyme laundry detergent from The Grove Collective and it worked great. It may have even extended each wear-between-cleaning time. Honestly, my only complaint was not having a light summer -un color to wear. I think this dress will be perfect for the coming fall months and I foresee wearing it often. I hung it by the waist to dry so the arm holes wouldn't stretch and once I dried it in the dryer for about 30 minutes on warm to try and shrink down the neck which had gotten stretched a bit by my excited cat. It never snagged or got a run since the fabric is a bit thick.
I completed my 100 day challenge last week and had SO many positive comments on it. Women love the pockets!! I work in customer service and so my outfits are often noticed by my co-workers and customers. My co-workers never noticed I'd been wearing the same dress (since I found fun ways to change up my look each day) until they saw my social media posts. My customers were complimentary of my airy, comfy look with POCKETS! I shared the 100 day dress challenge with a bunch of people, but always kept forgetting to take my pic in public because I got less conscious of what I was wearing and how I looked - partially due to COVID and also due to this super chillax, stress free dress. My laundry bill for sure went down (we only have a shared laundry room at my apt. complex).
The pockets have wide openings which can allow some items to fall out, but if you're aware of this, it's not an issue. I tend to wear large tops and medium bottoms, but the shapeless quality of this dress would probably flatter anyone if you're okay with being a bit formless. It is flattering when you wear it with the right accessories or pair it with fun leggings or a colorful shirt. However, for those who want to accentuate their curves, this probably isn't the dress for you. I don't have much curve due to my high waist, so it worked perfect for me. Included a pic from behind so you can see what I mean. ;op Can't wait to purchase my next @wool.and dress!
After living in the Rowena dress for 100 days I chose the Sierra tank dress as my reward dress. I'm ready to live in it for 100 days! It's such a nice weight, and looks great over a long sleeve shirt for spring and fall. Couldn't be happier!
